Lisa grew up in Marin County, California and has been passionate about the outdoors since she was a little girl.  A competitor at an early age she excelled in track in high school and earned a scholarship at the University of Colorado. In 1994 she found her way to Vail, Colorado looking for a new sport to pique her interest.  She took up kayaking and whitewater rafting, and became a member of the women’s raft team in 1998.  She has been a part of the team ever since, except for taking time out to have two kids.  She is the sales and marketing director of Timberline Tours where she and her husband are part owners.  Lisa is fully capable of carrying a child in one arm and a raft paddle in the other. It is Lisa's enthusiasm, skill and experience that gives her the title of team captain.

Lizzie Burnett

Lizzie is from Greenville, South Carolina.  She went to college at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina where she graduated with a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Health Science.  She has been involved in many sports throughout her life from playing soccer to swimming, kayaking, skiing, hiking and biking.  She has also participated in several triathlons.  She moved out to Colorado on a whim 7 years ago, planned on staying for four months and ended up settling down here.  She is now a paramedic in the Vail Valley.  Lizzie has been on the team for two seasons and has been a huge asset to the development of the team.

Gabriela Knedlik

Born in the Czech Republic, Gabby was raised in Fresno, California.  In the Spring of 1998 she developed a passion for kayaking which led her to Vail, Colorado.  Curiosity drove her to explore the rivers of the U.S., Costa Rica, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.  Gabby joined the U.S. women’s raft team in 2002 and participated in her second year in 2004 where she and the team earned another national title.

Dawn Vogeler

Dawn is originally from Chappaqua, New York.  She spent her college career at the University of Miami as a member of the women’s crew team.  She was a member of the U.S. Olympic development crew team in 1995 and an Olympic Festival bronze medallist.  After graduating with a degree in health science, she moved to Vail, Colorado.  Dawn currently works as a paramedic in the Vail Valley. She has been a part of the women’s whitewater raft team since 2001 and has paddled in World Rafting Championship races in the U.S., Africa and the Czech Republic.

Jody Swoboda

Jody spent her early years in Apple Valley, Minnesota.  She attended the
University of Wisconsin, Madison and graduated with a business degree.
Early trips on the Colorado River, with her family, eventually led her to hang up her business suit, put on a wetsuit and fulfill her dream as a raft guide for Timberline Tours in Vail, Colorado.  She has spent the past seven years accumulating thousands of river miles while kayaking, guiding and racing in the U.S., Chile, Argentina, New Zealand and India.  Jody has been a member of the women’s team since 2003.

Cristin Zimmer

Cristin is from Denver, Colorado.  At age 16 she found her calling rafting
throughout the states watersheds spending her college summers guiding on the Arkansas River.  After graduating with a B. A. in studio art and
environmental science from Pitzer College, she guided on the Gauley River in West Virginia.  Through the tight knit community of river folk in Colorado, Cristin was introduced to the Timberline Women in 2002 and became a member of the team.  Currently she spends her winters ski patrolling in Utah, anxiously waiting for the snow to start melting.
