Whitewater Rafting FAQ's
"Do I need special equipment?"
We provide state of the art equipment including wetsuits, booties, life jackets and splash jackets. Helmets are provided for class III - V trips. All you need is a bathing suit. Your dry clothes will be waiting at the take - out. On cooler days you may want to bring a synthetic underwear top to be worn under your splash jacket. Sunscreen is a great idea!
"How many people in the raft?"
Varies by trip. On our more difficult trips we use smaller rafts...less people. On our easier trips we can accommodate up to 10 in a raft.
"Do I have to paddle?"
No, we offer oar boats (the guide rows) on our easier trips!
"How do we get to the river?"
When you make your reservation, we will arrange to meet you at a convenient location in one of our new vans or people movers and return you at the conclusion of the trip.
"What do the ratings mean?"
Timberline Tours uses The International Scale of Whitewater Difficulty to rate the sections of river we run. Because water flows and daily conditions affect the difficulty of rapids, we are constantly monitoring the rivers on which we raft. If you have questions about what river to choose when booking a trip, review the Trip Descriptions or feel free to contact us at the address below.
